difference

— The difference in outcome between treatment comparison groups in a study

Synonyms:

absolute effect, risk difference

Full explanation:

Absolute effects are differences in outcomes between the groups being compared in a study of treatment effects.

Example:

For example, if death is the outcome and 10% (10 per 100) in one treatment group die and 6% (6 per 100) in a comparison group die, the absolute effect or difference is 10% - 6% = 4% (4 per 100).
