allocation schedule concealment

— Methods used to prevent knowledge beforehand of which participants will be allocated to which treatments in a study.

Synonyms:

allocation sequence concealment, concealment of allocation

Full explanation:

Allocation schedule concealment refers to actions taken to prevent foreknowledge of upcoming allocations among those people allocating participants to treatment comparison groups, and among potential participants in a study.

Unconcealed allocation schedules may lead to biased decisions about trial eligibility, or about allocations to a particular treatment (including placebo, or no treatment).
