Sponsor bias refers to distortions in the conduct, or interpretation of a study, motivated by financial or academic vested interests (conflicts of interest) among the study sponsors.
Sponsor bias can be introduced in a number of ways (e.g. through reporting bias or interpretation bias), and it may not be clear how, or if sponsor bias affects the findings of a study or systematic review.
